St Catherine's Community Support for the families of Turkey and Syria

We act for Solidarity

One of the incredible strengths of St Catherine's community is the way our families respond to, care and support those in need. This page is a call for action for our school community to make a difference and help people in need after the devastating earthquake in Turkey & Syria on Monday 6th February.

Together we can make a difference!

There are many organisations outside of the St Catherine's community that currently offer support and collect donations for the emergency appeal in Turkey and Syria after the earthquake. We have listed some of the ways you can support below and we ask you to please share your own resources on this page ( e-mail developmentoffice@stcatherines.gr)

Together we are stronger!

St Catherine's PTSA & DESMOS Drive

Please join our appeal for the whole school community to come together to support the families of Turkey and Syria who are directly affected by the  devastating earthquake.

Thank you to the PTSA and DESMOS for organising the school collection and picking up carloads of items to deliver them to the points where they can be delivered where needed most. The school collection points will be at the Lower School Welcome House and Upper School Main Entrance (inside on the left).

Please see below the list of items that will be collected in this drive. This weekend is the urgent call to action, but we will be collecting continuously as we see it is needed.

DESMOS & POLAT Foundation

DESMOS will collaborate with the POLAT Foundation's work in the badly hit areas in South East Turkey. The POLAT Foundation is already organising to set up a 250 people emergency container shelter with all necessary items to sustain and support the lives of the survivors.

Money raised will be used to purchase all needed items (generators, blankets, food, clean water system, beds, hygiene products etc.) as well as create other equipped camps in the areas to support the survivors whenever and wherever possible.

If you would like to help financially, please make a donation to DESMOS bank account GR1101401240124002002006831 - Alpha Bank mentioning (Turkey) in your deposit

As always the St Catherine’s community spirit comes together at such times of need and we will all respond

in the best we can collectively and individually. Thank you!

Doctors Without Borders

ON THE FRONT LINE OF DISASTER

Following the strong earthquakes that hit south-east Turkey and north-west Syria on 6 February, MSF, which is already supporting the population of north-west Syria, has mobilized its teams together with local partners to respond to the growing needs in the region.

To respond immediately to the stormy needs they have created the Emergency Fund which  enables them to respond immediately to urgent crises, treating victims of armed conflicts, epidemics, or natural disasters - such as the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. With your financial support, their teams can intervene immediately, where the need for medical care is greatest.
