Across the centuries, the name Catherine has echoed through the halls of palaces, the pages of novels, and portraits in national galleries. These women—queens, writers, and modern icons—have each left an indelible mark on British history and culture.
But as we look ahead to an extraordinary gathering in London next month, a new chapter is about to unfold. One that bridges tradition and modernity, legacy and vision. A familiar name is about to take its place among the greats—in a way it never has before.
Let us revisit the four legendary Catherines whose legacies continue to inspire… before unveiling something truly iconic.
1. Catherine of Aragon
The Tudor queen who changed the course of English history.
Queen of England and first wife of Henry VIII, Catherine’s refusal to step aside ignited the English Reformation. Regal, learned, and unyielding in her principles, she is remembered for her grace under fire and her role in shaping a nation.
2. Catherine Howard
The tragic beauty of the Tudor court.
Youthful and charming, she became Henry VIII’s fifth wife—only to be executed at the Tower of London for alleged treason. Her story remains one of courtly intrigue, risk, and the fleeting nature of royal favour.
3. Catherine Cookson
The voice of the working class and the heart of the North.
Born into poverty, Cookson became one of Britain’s most beloved novelists. Her gritty, compassionate stories of love and survival resonated with millions—and still do.
4. Catherine, Princess of Wales
Poised, purposeful, and shaping the modern monarchy.
Known for championing early years education, mental health, and the arts, HRH Catherine is a contemporary icon whose influence stretches far beyond palace walls. Her quiet strength and public service define a new royal era.
And Now… the Fifth Catherine
We are thrilled to announce that St. Catherine’s British School is stepping onto UK soil for the very first time—and we are doing it in style.
After nearly 70 years of inspiring students in Athens, St. Catherine’s is popping over to London for one unforgettable night—bringing with it the spirit of internationalism, lifelong connection, and a community that transcends borders.
For the first time ever, we are bringing together alumni, parents, friends, and supporters in London to raise a glass to where we have come from—and where we are headed. It is a celebration of heritage, with a bold wink to the future.
