The St Catherine’s Debate club has already taken off with a large number of students signed up and eager to begin debating.
Mrs Peters, together with Ms Nikolaou and the debate coach Marilena Kalyva, have been communicating with members. There is TEAMS club group and students can check out the information on there.
These are the rules of the club this term:
Masks must be worn at all times at debate club.
Social distancing must be practiced at all times at debate club.
As far as possible, students will debate only with students in their own year group and will be partnered with students from their form.
Every week the motion, teams and rooms will be announced via Teams on Monday.
Please confirm your participation via Teams as soon as possible after the announcement!
Please prep at home and come to the Friday club ready to debate! At 3:30 debaters should be in their rooms, ready to start debating.
It will not be possible for all club members to debate every week, so students not debating are encouraged to watch the debate either live or via Teams. They can make points of information and assist with judging.
The club runs until 5:00 p.m. so parents need to arrange transportation at that time.
Finally, the annual St. Catherine's Debating Tournament will take place via Zoom on Friday 16th - Sunday 18th September. Club members may sign up through the Google link on the club Teams page.
