As a school community we always strive to give back to the wider community and support each other. Charities and many other charitable initiatives are part of St Catherine's culture of giving for many years, shaping tomorrow's responsible citizens and offering support to society and vulnerable groups wherever we can.
Giving back, Giving Hope!
It has become a sweet tradition in St. Catherine's to wish to the ones we care about by offering them a candy cane while at the same time supporting a worthwhile cause, this year to fulfill a child's wish! At the same time, wishes "up on stars" were being promoted to support this fund-raising initiative. A CAS project organised by IB1 & IB2 students combined who raised 1364.85€ for the Make A Wish foundation!
"We were happy to be able to do this CAS project, in order to be able to help Make-a-Wish foundation make a child with a terminal disease happy. We also wanted to bring some joy to the St. Catherine's students and we were glad to be able to continue the tradition of selling candy canes, since we have experienced it ever since we first came to the Upper School and we couldn't wait to do this ourselves!" Georgia-Elli T, Nadine T, Vicky B, Rozita P, Calypso T, Melina T (students of IB1 & IB2)
On Monday 3rd of October 2022, our students across the Whole School played their part in contributing for this very important cause, as they do every year! The students wore pink and raised 2089.22€ donation for Alma Zois in support of women with breast cancer. Lower School students learnt more in the classroom while EYFS walked around the pitch taking action!
Well done to all, every step counts!
Tuesday 29th November 2022 was a special Day of Giving for our Eco Fund, supporting our student Eco Council initiatives for the whole school, and charities selected by the students! This year our key focus is looking after 'what we have' and supporting POP22 (Protect our Planet) our home!
This Giving Tuesday we focused on our Go Green Fund and want to thank everyone for the support we received! Together, the Upper School student and the parents that donated raised 2.072,52€ for the wellbeing of our planet and future of our children!
On December 2021 St Catherine's continued the tradition of Christmas wishes with candy canes! IB students wanted to bring back the greatly missed Christmas cheer of pre-covid times, while also raising money for WWF and their goal was to adopt an animal of their choice. The students raised €1150 and chose the dolphin for adoption. Thank you for your enthusiastic response to another successful CAS project!
On December 2021 St Catherine's hosted the first fund-raising bake sale in our new Upper school (and also the first one after 2 years) in order to support a very worthy cause: the homeless people in Athens. That morning the CAS office was full of homemade cookies, cupcakes, brownies which our lovely Upper School students generously brought in!
Following a very successful bake sale, our IB CAS student volunteers were able to gather €1,000 which will be donated to the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens (KYADA) which supports and facilitates the life of the homeless people in Athens. A brilliant joint effort with a great outcome! Well done to all who participated and especially to our Year 8 student Fotini Verarou for inspiring this incredible initiative!
Well done to our St Catherine's students and community!
€2,900 was raised for Alma Zois NGO to support beating breast cancer.

School re-opened after lockdown and students went into overdrive to help in any way possible. As a school we wanted to support charities and high-risk groups and help them protect themselves against the pandemic. One of our most successful drives was with the Greek charity DESMOS, a non-profit organisation which supports small charities across Greece to participate in a COVID-19 response drive collecting essential items. The support was overwhelming from our community, and we filled vans with supplies and once again brought our community together for a very worthy cause.
