Giving Tuesday at St. Catherine’s has once again shown the extraordinary power of our community. In a single day, parents, students, staff and, for the very first time, alumni came together with one shared purpose: to widen access to a St Catherine’s education through our IB Scholarship Programme.
The results were remarkable! €8,001 was raised thanks to the generosity of 188 total donors, 35 percent of which were students acting on our St. Cats value of Care. In total, our community's generosity on Giving Tuesdsay funded 40 percent of one IB Scholarship year in just one day.
This achievement reflects far more than a financial milestone. It speaks to a growing culture of giving at St. Catherine’s, one built on compassion, shared values and a belief in opening doors for outstanding students who would not otherwise have this opportunity. It represents futures shaped, potential unlocked and the transformative impact of education made possible through collective generosity.
Every act of support, whether a donation, a message of encouragement or simply joining the spirit of the day, contributed to this moment. Our community demonstrated what it truly means to come together with purpose and kindness, especially at the start of the festive season.
As part of the day’s warm and joyful energy, our House teams also played their part, adding a touch of friendly spirit to Giving Tuesday. The highest participation came from:
1st Place: Mayflower (51 donors)
2nd Place: Victory (44 donors)
3rd Place: Revenge (37 donors)
4th Place: Endeavour (35 donors)
As part of the celebration, families who donated online will receive their limited-edition St. Catherine’s Christmas bauble. This small but meaningful keepsake symbolises the generosity and unity that define our school. EYFS and Lower School baubles will be delivered to classrooms, while Upper School students may collect theirs from the Development Office.
Giving Tuesday at St. Catherine’s has become more than a day of giving. It is a reflection of who we are. A community that lifts others, invests in opportunity and believes deeply in the promise of a transformative education.
"The magic of Giving Tuesday came from the people, our wonderful community gathering, connecting and giving with open hearts," shared Deborah Eleftheriou, Head of Development and Alumni Relations.
"The best part was connecting with the students, who were all so excited to support this fabulous cause. The energy across our school showed just how special this community is and the impact we can make when we work together."
And the festive spirit continues. If you did not get the chance to support Giving Tuesday, we will be at the Christmas Fair on Wednesday 17 December in the Upper School Foyer with our limited-edition Christmas keepsakes, and we look forward to welcoming you there.
Together, we have made a meaningful difference. This is only the beginning.
