St. Catherine’s Students Among Greece’s Highest GCSE Achievers

Exceptional exam results place students at the top nationally and across Europe

We congratulate our Outstanding Pearson Learner Award recipients on this exceptional achievement!

At St. Catherine’s British School, we are proud to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our students who have been recognised with Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards.

These awards honour students whose academic performance in the GCSEs places them at the very top of their subject cohort, not only within their school, but across the country and beyond. This year, our recipients join a small and distinguished group of learners worldwide whose results reflect the highest standards of academic excellence.

The Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards recognise the very strongest examination performances in each subject, following rigorous marking, moderation, and verification processes. For our community, this recognition is both a celebration of individual achievement and a powerful affirmation of the academic environment at St. Catherine’s.

Our Outstanding Pearson Learner Award Recipients

We are proud to celebrate the following St Catherine’s students whose exceptional GCSE results have been recognised through the Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards:

Aris A. — Art, Craft and Design
Highest Mark in Greece

Iria C. — Economics
Highest Mark in Greece

Sophia F. — Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Highest Mark in Greece and Europe

Poppy V. — Science (Double Award)
Highest Mark in Greece

Iris X. — Geography
Highest Mark in Greece

Each of these awards reflects not only outstanding examination performance, but also sustained commitment, intellectual curiosity, and academic excellence at the very highest level.

What “Highest in Greece” Really Means

To receive an Outstanding Pearson Learner Award for Highest Mark in the Country at GCSE level, a student must:

  • Achieve the highest possible grade (Grade 9)
  • Record the highest standardised exam mark in Greece for that subject
  • Compete against all candidates nationwide sitting the same Pearson Edexcel examination

In simple terms, “Highest in Greece” means that the student achieved the top GCSE result in their subject across the entire country during that examination series.

Where multiple students achieve the same highest mark, each receives equal recognition, reinforcing the integrity and fairness of the award.

Excellence on a Global Scale

Each year, only a small number of learners worldwide receive Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards. In the 2024–2025 examination series, just over 2,100 students from 740 schools across 85 countries were recognised; from among many thousands of Pearson Edexcel candidates globally.

Being counted among this group places our students, and St. Catherine’s, firmly within an international academic community of excellence.

A Reflection of Our School Community

While these awards celebrate individual achievement, they also reflect the strength of teaching, learning, and academic ambition at St. Catherine’s. They speak to a culture that values curiosity, dedication, integrity, and care, and that encourages our students to aim high, think deeply, and pursue excellence.

We congratulate our Outstanding Pearson Learner Award recipients on this exceptional achievement and look forward to celebrating many more successes in the years ahead.
