St. Catherine’s is proud to announce that two of our Year 12 students, Cecilia P. and Kathy E., have been selected to serve as chairs at the 2026 The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) conference this January — an exceptional honour that recognises their leadership, intellect, and commitment to global understanding.
THIMUN, recognised as one of the largest international MUN conference in the world and the largest in Europe, brings together more than 3,000 students from across the globe to debate issues shaping our shared future. To be appointed as a chair is an extraordinary distinction, reserved for students who have represented leadership, a depth of understanding of global affairs, and the ability to guide complex, high-level debate with diplomacy and integrity.
“Cecilia and Kathy have shown exceptional maturity, intellectual curiosity, and dedication throughout their MUN journey,” said Angelina Tsilimpari, the St. Catherine’s Model UN Director. “To see them now recognised on an international stage is immensely rewarding — not only for what it says about their abilities, but for the way they represent the spirit of St. Catherine’s: thoughtful, articulate, and deeply engaged with the world around them.”
Kathy and Cecilia’s appointments mark the continuation of a proud St. Catherine’s history at THIMUN at The Hague. Their selection reflects not only their personal dedication but also the strength and reputation of the school’s MUN programme. Each year, our students return from THIMUN inspired, confident, and ready to lead, embodying the principles of respect, collaboration, and informed dialogue.
Last year’s St. Catherine’s delegation earned recognition for their exemplary performance, including a student chairing a General Assembly committee and another serving as a judge at the International Criminal Court. Building on that success, Kathy and Cecilia now step into leadership roles that will see them shaping and moderating debates among hundreds of international peers.
We are immensely proud of Cecilia and Kathy for reaching this milestone and for embodying the very best of our school values of care, integrity, curiosity and dedication in embracing the power of global citizenship. Their achievement stands as an inspiration to all St. Cats students who strive to make their mark through dialogue and leadership.
As they prepare for The Hague, Kathy and Cecilia are also among a dedicated team of 6 students leading preparations for the St. Catherine’s Model United Nations Conference, taking place on 14–15 February 2026. Registration is now open and schools are warmly invited to join what promises to be our most dynamic and globally engaged conference yet.
