St. Catherine's hosted virtually the 11th Annual Debate tournament this weekend!
We hosted debaters virtually from 9 schools in Athens and Thessaloniki, with the rounds spread over three days to give students and judges breaks in screen time. The standard of debating was impressive. The winning team, on the motion 'Assuming the public would never find out, this house supports historical narratives that prioritise equal representation throughout history, even if people and events need to be fabricated' were from Pierce College.
St. Catherine's year 11 team, Carolina and Karl, did us proud by reaching the semi-finals, while Cleo F was another star of the competition, qualifying nominally for the semifinals in her first ever tournament.
A big plus of online debating proved to be the inclusion of alumni on the judging panel joining us online from as far away as the UK, Germany and the US: Jason S., Kimberly S., Dioni E., Dimitra G. thank you!
