St Catherine's British School mourns with the rest of the world, the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as announced on Thursday 8th September, 2022.

"This is the moment history stops; for a minute, an hour, for a day or a week; this is the moment history stops"

Queen Elizabeth II, our very special Queen, the UK's longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years. She steered the monarchy through turbulent times and was for many a constant point in a rapidly changing world.

Some of her most powerful words...

On her 21st birthday, in 1947, broadcasting to the world from South Africa:

"I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service."

On her coronation day, in 1953:

"I have in sincerity pledged myself to your service, as so many of you are pledged to mine. Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust."

On the balcony of Buckingham Palace on the last day of the Platinum Jubilee :

"When it comes to how to mark seventy years as your queen, there is no guidebook to follow.

It really is a first. ... I remain committed to serving you to the best of my ability, supported by my family."

The celebration of the Platinum Jubilee in St Catherine's was one of the highlights of 2022!

Mr. Monet and Mrs. Vrakas visited EYFS and shared their artistic techniques and enthusiasm with our little pupils. After carefully observing the Queen's portrait by Mr. Monet, everyone got busy with collaging, painting and decorating. The results were fabulous with unique portraits of the Queen.

Our thoughts are with the Royal Family.

Thank you for everything!
