Choosing a university today can feel overwhelming. With thousands of institutions worldwide competing for attention through rankings, marketing campaigns and social media, students are often faced with more noise than clarity. For many, the real challenge is not simply discovering universities, but learning how to evaluate them thoughtfully and determine the right personal and academic fit.

On Wednesday, 19 March, St. Catherine's British School will host the SRT International University Fair, bringing together representatives from universities and specialist institutions across Europe, North America and Asia. The event provides students with the opportunity to engage directly with admissions professionals, ask informed questions and gain deeper insight into the academic programmes and opportunities available to them.

Among the participating institutions are leading schools in business, finance and hospitality, including:

Europe: Frankfurt School of Finance & Management - Germany, Les Roches Global Hospitality Education, Glion Institute of Higher Education, École Ducasse, Vatel Bordeaux – France, Webster Vienna Private University, Universidad Francisco de Vitoria – Spain, SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern – Switzerland, Tio Business School – The Netherlands, Metropolitan College – Greece

North America: Saint Mary's University – Canada, Green River College – United States, Hult International Business School – United States, Fulton-Montgomery Community College – United States

Asia: Hosei University – Japan

Their presence highlights the diverse global pathways available to students as they consider their future studies.

For students in the Upper School, events such as this are an important step in moving from curiosity to clarity. Speaking directly with university representatives allows students to go beyond brochures and websites to understand what makes each institution unique - its academic culture, learning environment, and the experiences it offers beyond the classroom.

The SRT Fair also complements the ongoing guidance provided by the school’s Futures Team, which supports university and career counselling. Through these conversations and interactions, students are encouraged to think critically about their interests, strengths and aspirations, and to approach the university search process with curiosity, confidence and discernment.

Dr Erin Miniotis, part of the school's Futures Team mentioned:

“With so many universities competing for attention, students can easily feel overwhelmed by information. Events like the SRT International University Fair allow them to learn about universities first-hand by focusing on meaningful conversations with admissions professionals. Following the strong response from our students last year, we are very pleased to welcome the fair back to St. Catherine’s, giving students another valuable opportunity to explore their options and think carefully about what the right university fit means for them.”

While considering universities often conjures discussions about well-known institutions, it is most important that students have the opportunity to discover and consider environments where they can thrive intellectually, develop their talents and shape their future paths. The SRT International University Fair is one of the many ways in which St. Catherine’s British School supports students in turning a complex global landscape into a meaningful and informed next step.
