This academic year marks an exciting first for St. Catherine’s as we welcome the Fulbright Fellows Program to our school for the very first time.

The Fulbright Program is one of the world’s most prestigious international educational exchange programmes, bringing talented students, scholars and professionals together across countries and cultures to promote academic exchange and international collaboration.

Thanks to the generous support of a donor from the St. Catherine’s community, our school now has the privilege of welcoming two accomplished Fulbright Fellows, Ms Chloe Fatsis and Ms Alexandra Odunuga, who have already become part of our St. Cats community.

Their arrival brings something special to our school: the opportunity for our students to learn alongside talented graduates who will be bringing different learning experiences to life.

Bringing global experiences into school life

Over the coming months, Chloe and Alexandra will work alongside our students and staff across academic lessons, co-curricular and enrichment activities, as well as in US university application support. Through mentoring, coaching and direct engagement with students, they will enhance the student experience while creating opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange.

Their individual interests and experiences will also allow each Fellow to make a distinctive contribution to life at St. Catherine’s.

Alexandra brings an academic background in Politics and the Social Sciences from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and will contribute to the Humanities Department’s Global Politics and History lessons, as well as to the Model United Nations activities throughout the year. She is currently also supporting students with their applications to universities in the United States, through the Futures Department, drawing on her own experience of independently navigating the US college application process and helping her family understand a system that was new to them.

Chloe has studied Computer Science at Brown University and took full advantage of the school’s Open Curriculum to attend many Humanities classes. She is currently one of the highest-ranked Scrabble players in North America. She will bring this remarkable interest to St. Catherine’s through lunchtime Scrabble Clubs open to students across year groups. Students will have the opportunity to explore how an extracurricular passion can develop qualities such as strategic thinking, intellectual curiosity, commitment and resilience. Chloe is also currently supporting the Debate Club, the English Department, the student newspaper The Owl, as well as mentoring US applicants through the Futures Department.

Together, their involvement will extend well beyond individual lessons or activities. At the heart of the Fulbright experience is exchange: sharing knowledge, perspectives and cultures while learning from one another. We are equally excited about what Chloe and Alexandra will discover through becoming part of the diverse and international St. Catherine’s community.
