Ms Morsink invites St Catherine's community to an on-line concert from Toronto on Apr 8, 2021 at 7:00 pm EDT (Toronto, Canada) which is part of the Canadian League of Composers' programme called PIVOT. Read her invitation below:
Dear St. Cats community,
I would like to invite you to an on-line concert from Toronto, Canada which is part of the Canadian League of Composers’ programme called PIVOT. PIVOT is a programme for early career or ‘emerging’ Canadian composers. I am delighted to be part of PIVOT because the programme has given me the opportunity to have composer Andrew Balfour of Cree descent as my mentor, attend on-line workshops and seminars about composing and professional development as a composer and most thrilling, to write a composition for the members of the Toronto Ensemble Continuum to premiere. I am pleased to announce the premiere of my work A Stack of Human Dilemmas for violin and cello, based on a series of sculptures by artist Judith Morsink. The event will also feature Sointu Aalto, the superb Teen Composer Award Winner for Canada and Kevin Gironnay, originally from France and living and working in Montreal, Canada as a composer.
Understandably, the premiere will be live at 2am Greek time but if you are living in a time zone where it is a more reasonable hour, (or if you have insomnia and you think it may help you sleep better afterwards!) I would be honoured if you will join me online for the performance. After the event, the broadcast will be available on youtube and facebook for continued viewing.
With thanks and best wishes,
Coreen Morsink
