St. Catherine’s British School hosted another successful Careers Week, an exciting event filled with industry insights, hands-on experiences, and career exploration opportunities. This year’s programme offered students unique exposure to a variety of careers, allowing them to gain valuable insights into different industries and begin shaping their future paths.
The week was structured around four key initiatives:
Industry Experts-Mentors in the Classroom
A highlight of Careers Week 2025 was the participation of 35 mentors who visited 38 Year 9 to Year 12 classes to engage with students and share insights from their industries. These mentors, who included parents, alumni and external experts, represented fields as diverse as music, finance, investment banking, research, technology, healthcare, entrepreneurship, law and the non-profit sector.
'Dive into Healthcare' Panel & Small Group Discussions
On Wednesday, 5th March 2025, students had the opportunity to explore the diverse career paths within the healthcare industry through the 'Dive into Healthcare' Panel, held in St. Catherine’s Theatre and broadcast live. The panel featured mentors from clinical care, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, public health, health technology, education & research, as well as healthcare administration.
đź’ˇ Key takeaways:
Following the panel, students who had registered, engaged in small group discussions with the speakers for more in depth insights.
Careers in Publishing – A World Book Day Special Event
As World Book Day coincided with Careers Week, the Futures Team organised a special event focused on careers in publishing and writing. Our wonderful library hosted distinguished authors, editors, and publishing mentors, who discussed the evolving world of books, digital publishing, and the importance of storytelling.
đź“– Key Lessons from the Publishing Industry Speakers:
Career Workshops: Morrisby Profile & INVESTIN Mock Assessment Centre for Years 10-12
As part of their PSHCE lessons, Year 10 students were introduced to the Morrisby Profile, a psychometric career assessment designed to help them identify their strengths, interests, and potential career paths. The test matched their profiles with over 600 career options, giving them the chance to explore potential professions.
Year 10 to Year 12 students also had the incredible opportunity to participate in a Mock Assessment Centre, hosted by UK-based company INVESTIN. Assessment centres are a key part of recruitment processes used by top companies, so gaining hands-on experience early on is invaluable.
📝 What students gained from the experience:
We thank all the participants for their invaluable contributions, their willingness to share their experiences, and their dedication to inspiring the leaders and innovators of tomorrow. Careers Week 2025 was a fantastic success, and we look forward to continuing to support students on their journey toward fulfilling careers!
